Our community

Protecting and enjoying Lake Lashaway takes a community of people who have the same positive goals in mind. This website contains links to information about the history of Lake Lashaway, lake information, efforts used to protect our own lake and all the activities that can be enjoyed on a clean and safe lake.

ABOUT OUR HISTORY

In 1812, Jeduthan Stephens, a former LT. in the Revolutionary War and a prosperous local businessman, purchased the tract of several hundred acres and built the first dam of wooden tree trunks, caulked with tarred rope. Once the lake rose to a height of approximately 6 feet, water was diverted to provide power for various town industries, foundries, grist mills, local brick factories and running water for homes.
